Third Grade Book Report Fun with Ms. Andrews and Mr. Ekiert
Exploring Self-Acceptance Through Literature
In Ms. Andrews’ and Mr. Ekiert’s third grade class, students recently had a blast working in pairs to create book reports on A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon. The story of Camilla Cream, who undergoes bizarre changes because she’s afraid to be herself, sparked lively discussions among the students.
As they collaborated, each pair delved into how Camilla’s condition worsened until she finally admitted her love for lima beans, learning a valuable lesson about self-acceptance. The students eagerly shared their favorite parts of the book, helped each other summarize the plot, and reflected on the important message of being true to oneself.
This engaging activity enhanced their understanding of the story and fostered teamwork and communication skills. It was a fun and meaningful way for the students to connect with literature and each other!
