A.V.I.D. Advancement Via Individual Determination At Bolden Elementary/Middle School
Empowering Students to Succeed: A.V.I.D. at Bolden Elementary/Middle School

A.V.I.D is a special program at Charles F. Bolden Elementary Middle School that helps students learn important skills for college and jobs. Students in A.V.I.D learn how to communicate better, take good notes, and ask for help when they need it, using something called the Tutorial Request Form (TRF). They also talk about what they find confusing in class, which helps everyone understand things better. A.V.I.D encourages students to dream big and think about what they want to do in the future.
 7th Grade A.V.I.D
In seventh grade, students use the Tutorial Request Form to identify what they don’t understand in their subjects. This helps them organize their requests for help from friends and teachers. Many of the students at Charles F. Bolden enjoy these Tutorial Request Forms. By doing this, they become more confident in their learning and improve their communication skills, which helps them prepare for eighth grade.
 8th Grade A.V.I.D
Eighth graders work together to identify topics that are challenging for them, called Points of Confusion (POCs). They help each other understand these topics and improve their note-taking. This teamwork builds confidence and prepares them for high school.
 A.V.I.D Teachers
The A.V.I.D teachers at Charles F. Bolden are very important. Mrs. Carter-Lacey and Mrs. Rose help students learn to communicate well, think critically, and speak up for themselves. By using the TRF and encouraging discussions about POCs, the teachers create a friendly learning environment. They support students in facing challenges in school and inspire them to see new opportunities for their future.
