The Bolden Bugle Newsletter
Dear Parents,
    We believe that effective teachers:Â
- Create opportunities for intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, problem-solving, and application
of classroom learning to real-life situations; - Implement strategies that promote ownership of learning to students;
- Design instruction to integrate a variety of innovative technological tools and resources to enhance learning;
Demonstrate ongoing professional growth to increase the quality of instruction; - Collaborate with colleagues to share and discuss exemplary practices, interpret student data, and
design assessments that promote Twenty-First Century skills. -
We believe that successful students:Â
- Communicate in a meaningful way for a variety of purposes and audiences;
- Demonstrate a sensitivity to the precision and nuances of written, visual, and aural medium through comprehension, interpretation, and evaluation;Â
- Employ critical and creative thinking to solve problems; and
- Pose questions, examine possibilities, and apply skills to find and solve authentic issues.
- Make positive choices related to physical and mental wellness;
- Contribute to the local and global community in a collaborative
and respectful manner.
 - If I can assist in any way, contact me. I am honored to serve as your principal.

Meet the Instructional Support Team
Two of the support services we offer are instructional support
for reading and math. We have a wonderful team that supports
those students requiring extra help to master skills and
concepts.
Ms. Musgrove, Math
I am Lisa Musgrove. I have been a part of the Bolden Family
since 2016. I help with math. I enjoy exchanging math ideas
and having math conversations with parents, students, and
colleagues. When my schedule permits, I will be working with
teachers and all students in neighborhoods. For students who
see me for intervention, I will use the new math resources from RevealÂ
for elementary school students and iReady for
middle school students.
My email address is:
Lisa.Musgrove@dodea.edu
Ms. Manning, Reading
I am Teresa Manning. I started teaching at Laurel Bay
Schools in 1986. I help students become better readers. I
believe being a good reader is an important life skill. Currently
I work with teachers to help students improve their reading
skills to help with academic success. Being a good reader
supports cognitive development, and improves language
skills, imagination, and creativity. My goal when teaching
reading skills to students is to increase their confidence with
their academics and to cultivate a lifetime love of reading. For
students who see me for intervention, I use the SLI Program
(Strategic Literacy Invention) for grades 3-5, and the Read
180 Program for grades 6-8. If you have any concerns or
questions about your child’s reading, you can call the school
The book fair is coming soon!!!! Bolden’s book fair week is September 30th through October 4th during your students' lunch period. There will be a chance for your student(s) to preview the book fair during their class period on Monday, September 30th. They will be able to make their wish lists during that time. The book fair will be open after school on Tuesday, October 1st from 3:30-6:00 pm for parents to shop with their students. We look forward to seeing some Eagle readers at the book fair!!!
A New Front Office Email Address
We are pleased to announce that a new email address has been
established to facilitate communication between families and
the school. The email address is boldenfrontoffice@dodea.edu.Â
This email will serve as the primary channel for parents and sponsor to communicate
attendance-related matters, including notifying us when a
student will be absent for the day or if there are emergency
dismissal changes.
Important Points:
Email Address: Please use the provided email address
(boldenfrontoffice@dodea.edu) when sending attendance
notes or dismissal change requests. It is crucial that both the
child’s homeroom teacher and the front office receive your
email.
Dismissal Changes: To ensure safety and security, we will
not accept dismissal changes after 2:30 p.m. If you need to
make any permanent transportation or dismissal changes,
please complete the required form. You can obtain the form
by visiting the school front office or requesting it to be sent
home.
Email Format for Dismissal Changes: When emailing a
dismissal change, please include the following details:
* Child’s full name
* Your name (parent/sponsor)
* Homeroom teacher’s name
* Specific dismissal changes for that day
Classroom Questions and Concerns: While this email
address is primarily for attendance and dismissal matters, if
you have specific classroom-related questions or concerns, we
encourage you to directly email the teacher responsible for
your child’s class. Thank you for your cooperation, and we
look forward to maintaining effective communication with our
school community.
Student Contact Information
Please notify the office if you have any new phone numbers (home, work, cell), or if you no longer use a number previously
listed with the school. It is important to us that your child’s contact information is current for their teachers, school nurse, and principal.
We also want to ensure that you receive all messages sent to Bolden families through the Everbridge notification system.
Important School Information
School Arrival and Dismissal Locations
To ensure the safety of our students, please do not drop off or pick up your children from the back of the school. All students who are car riders must be dropped off and picked up from the front of the school. If you have students at both Elliott and Bolden you may drop off your students in the morning at the Elliott car rider line. Students should not be dropped off in front of the school if they’re late. If your children are late, please escort them into the office and sign them in.
We appreciate your cooperation.
Wearing a bicycle helmet. It’s the law!!
According to Air Station Order P5110.1E, anyone riding a bicycle on base is REQUIRED to wear an approved bicycle helmet. Also, Depot Order 1710.31A(b) states that at age 5 a parent must remain with their child providing instructive supervision while riding and not until age 6 are children allowed to ride their bikes to school alone.
In the Event of Severe Weather
When there is a lightning warning/storm, our school will implement a severe weather dismissal. During this dismissal, walkers and bike riders will not be permitted to leave unless they are being picked up or the lightning warning/storm is canceled. Please make sure that your children know who will be picking them up if you are unable to do so.
