The Bolden Bugle Newsletter

Dear Parents,
The faculty and staff of Bolden Elementary/
Middle School recognize the
important contributions parents make
toward a child’s success in
school. There’s no question about it -
success at school begins at home.
Parents are the single most important
variable in a child’s schooling. Parents
model both a silent and spoken
language in front of their children daily.
Please continue to be a role model
for our wonderful Bolden students.

Keeping Students Warm During Colder Weather
As the weather gets colder, parents must ensure that their children are dressed warmly for school, especially if they walk or ride their bikes. Here are some tips to help keep students comfortable and safe during the chilly months:
Dress in Layers
Layering is key to staying warm. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, add an insulating middle layer, and finish with a waterproof outer layer. This combination helps retain body heat while protecting against wind and rain.
Essential Winter Gear
Make sure students have the following items:
- Warm Hats: A hat can prevent significant heat loss from the head.
- Gloves or Mittens: Keep hands warm and protected from the cold.
- Scarves: Protect the neck and face from chilly winds.
- Warm Socks and Boots: Insulated and waterproof boots paired with thick socks keep feet dry and warm.
Reflective Gear
With shorter daylight hours, students need to wear reflective gear to stay visible to drivers. Reflective vests, armbands, and stickers on backpacks can enhance safety.
Plan Ahead
Check the weather forecast each morning and adjust clothing choices accordingly. Encourage students to bring extra layers in their backpacks in case the weather changes throughout the day.
By following these tips, we can help ensure that our students stay warm, comfortable, and safe on their way to and from school during the colder months.

A New Front Office Email Address
We are pleased to announce that a new email address has been
established to facilitate communication between families and
the school. The email address is boldenfrontoffice@dodea.edu.Â
This email will serve as the primary channel for parents and sponsor to communicate
attendance-related matters, including notifying us when a
student will be absent for the day or if there are emergency
dismissal changes.
Important Points:
Email Address: Please use the provided email address
(boldenfrontoffice@dodea.edu) when sending attendance
notes or dismissal change requests. It is crucial that both the
child’s homeroom teacher and the front office receive your
email.
Dismissal Changes: To ensure safety and security, we will
not accept dismissal changes after 2:30 p.m. If you need to
make any permanent transportation or dismissal changes,
please complete the required form. You can obtain the form
by visiting the school front office or requesting it to be sent
home.
Email Format for Dismissal Changes: When emailing a
dismissal change, please include the following details:
* Child’s full name
* Your name (parent/sponsor)
* Homeroom teacher’s name
* Specific dismissal changes for that day
Classroom Questions and Concerns: While this email
address is primarily for attendance and dismissal matters, if
you have specific classroom-related questions or concerns, we
encourage you to directly email the teacher responsible for
your child’s class. Thank you for your cooperation, and we
look forward to maintaining effective communication with our
school community.
Student Contact Information: Please notify the office if you have any new phone numbers (home, work, cell), or if you no longer use a number previously listed with the school. It is important to us that your child’s contact information is current for their teachers, school nurse, and principal. We also want to ensure that you receive all messages sent to Bolden families through the Everbridge notification system.
